About Us

We have a vast range of local producers and suppliers of seasonal, local food at our fingertips. We use our knowledge and experience to curate an ever-changing range of food to keep our customers well fed and enthused about cooking with real ingredients through the seasons.

THE TEAM

My name is Joe. I’ve been interested in food and where it comes from since I was a boy.

I grew up in a vegetarian household as my parents were dissatisfied with the way animals were reared. We grew some of our own veg and enjoyed a good relationship with food.

When I was 23 I travelled alone to Indonesia overland from Bristol. This taught me loads about other communities and how food was pretty much central to people’s lives in a much greater way than it was in Bristol. One job led to another and I found myself in a position to buy Source with two amazing chefs in 2009. For 12 years we operated a successful café and food hall in St Nicks market in the centre of Bristol. When Covid hit we sold the lease and turned the food hall into an online shop and have been working from our new home in St Philip’s since February 2021.

I work with Louis, our butcher extraordinaire who has made it his mission to produce excellent sausages, cured pork and superbly aged steaks. He understands meat and chooses the very best cuts for our customers. 

The team is also heavily dependent on Barney, our picker. His drive and organisation pulls the team together to ensure everything is in order before loading up the vehicles.

We’re surrounded by fantastic produce and work with some lovely people. From the zero emissions delivery drivers to the web developer, film maker and suppliers. It’s a real joy to bring skilled, passionate people together to make Source a sustainable, local business.
